About Martin

I started playing the guitar at the age of nine. In my teens I had guitar lessons at the Blackhealth Conservatoire. I passed Grade 8 with distinction at the age of 15.

I have been teaching the Electric, Classical and Bass guitar full-time in the Gravesend/Northfleet area since 1984. My pupils have ranged from beginners to advanced, and from 4 years to retirement age. In this time I have taught guitar in many of the local schools and also in the evenings from my home.

My qualifications are a degree in Music (B.Mus(Hons)) from Royal Holloway College University of London and a guitar teaching diploma (L.G.S.M.) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I have composed music for two guitar sight-reading books for the international publisher Schott and these are sold around the world. For working with children, I have been CRB checked with heightened disclosure.
